Basis launches ‘game-changing’ public sector practice in the UK

Basis Research has launched Basis Social – a social research practice focused on helping clients to shape effective public policy, communications and services.

Led by Darren Bhattachary, former Kantar Insights Co-CEO, and Dan Clay, former Head of Qualitative Research at Kantar Public, Basis Social delivers transformational insight by bringing together the best of commercial and social research. With a uniquely creative and collaborative approach and a clear focus on outcomes and actionability, Basis Social promises to leverage cutting edge technologies, multi-disciplinary networks and the capabilities across Basis Research to offer public policy clients something truly different.

Founded in 1990, Basis delivers bespoke ad hoc and tracking solutions for clients across sectors including media & entertainment, retail, financial services, FMCG and fashion. In 2018 it launched Basis Health, a global healthcare practice operating out of the US and UK, which has had a transformative impact within the health sector. Basis Social is being launched with similar ambitions.

Darren joins as CEO following 13 years at Kantar where he was most recently Co-CEO of Kantar, Insights Division UK&I, and formerly Executive Director of TNS-BMRB (now Kantar Public). He will work alongside Dan who joins from the global strategic communications firm SECNewgate where he was a Managing Partner leading their UK research arm; Dan was also formerly Head of Qualitative Research at Kantar Public. Both have worked for all major government departments and non-departmental bodies, and bring extensive experience combining the best of market and social research to deliver insight that inspires action.
